RADVENT Day 2: Lowlife’s “Permanent Sleep”

For the first 24 days of December, Radio in Opposition and guests will share with you one very special album, one day at a time. We call it RADVENT.

Welcome back for the next installment of RADVENT! Today’s offering comes from Atlantic City’s JE double F, who also runs American Scream Records, and has just released the TUFF TURF full-length.

Lowlife is a criminally underrated post-punk/goth band from Scotland. Their debut album PERMANENT SLEEP (1986) is a beautifully sad and angry record. Everything is drenched in reverb and darkness. This album got me through some shit, to say the least.

March 15, 2014 // JE double F // Cloud Nothings // Watter

Welcome back! Atlantic City punk/hip-hop artist, JE double F, joins us for an interview and performance. He talks about his label, touring, his writing process, and more. The full, unedited set and interview can be found on our Bandcamp page, which really helps us pay the bills.

Ross reviews the much anticipated release from Cloud NothingsHere and Nowhere Else.

Members of Slint and Grails come together under the name Watter to bring out This World, which we’ll hear the first track from.

Greg explores a pay-what-you-want download from ambient, electronic soloist, Alone Architect.

dry feet‘s Perry Shall gives his thoughts on smoking at shows and how it affects the audience and the performers.

Justin struggles to pronounce “Oi Magoi” as he reviews the newest release from Greek trio, Hail Spirit Noir.

Hometown Pride

This is my last show broadcast live on WDIY in Allentown. From now on, RiO is a Subcity exclusive. In light of that, this show is all local bands that supported me in getting RiO off the ground. Enjoy.
